Text Box: Our mission is to provide a safe haven for the youth of San Francisco who participate in our organization. We will provide a positive influence on the youth.
Strive to help and improve the self of each youth.
Teaching them the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, we will build on the concept of instilling in the youth to be team players.
We will stress to the youth that education is a strong product in their lives. We will teach the youth to become responsible for their actions and to learn to work out differences in a more sociable and acceptable manner.
To instill that education is first and foremost, and that education is a privilege is our focus.
Text Box: Our goal is to provide the youth of our organization with a well-defined program that enhances their physical and mental abilities, but also provides them with sound advice on balancing this program with academic achievements in their individual schools.
Our organization will strive to make sure that each youth receives sound advice and structure while participating in this program. We are committed to teach all the youth to be responsible within their own communities, and to act in a socially acceptable manner at all times.
Our organization will strive to motivate each and every child. Competition is a balance of winning and we will strive to make the youth understand the importance of both and to take winning and losing gracefully.
Text Box: Our most positive outcome is the sense of pride in self and community demonstrated by the youth involved, ages 7 through 15 years. Our sports team alternative to the streets and our network of supportive adults has created an extended family for children (and often their parents) who come from very difficult life circumstances. Many of our youth are recruited from within public housing. We have seen foster children involved who blossom as members of this extended family. To overcome neighborhood rivalries, we accept youth from across the city, resulting in a good ethnic mix of young people working hard together to win for their team. Our participants need to maintain a 2.0 grade point average at school and are required to submit a weekly school report tracking their progress. Our program provides often-aggressive youth with a socially acceptable outlet for their aggressions, where they learn discipline and fitness. We have seen overweight children come into the program and lose weight. With the lack of physical education classes/programs in some of the schools, our program fills this gap within a context that attracts and motivates our young participants. Our winning track record at games is a resounding validation for hard work and team effort. In September 2001, our teams played during the half-time game between the Rams and 49ers and were enthusiastically received by the crowd.
